Dr. Il Jeong JEONG is Minister Counselor in the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea in Geneva since 2021. Before this, he served as Director General of International Cooperation Bureau in the Korean Ministry of Agriculture during 2016-2020.
During 30 years of his career in the Korean Ministry of Agriculture, he was mainly involved in the domestic and international agricutural policy making processes including grain, livestock, food and fisheries policies. He also worked at Trade and Agriculture Directorate in OECD during 2005-2008 and worked at Programme Department in IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development) during 2013-2016.
He graduated from Seoul National University (Economics) in 1989 and holds mater and Ph.D degrees from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign(UIUC) majoring Development Economics.
