Leo Kris Palao

Associate Climate Change Officer, Climate Change and Sustainable Development Departments
Asian Development Bank

Leo Kris Palao has a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Science with extensive experience on using geospatial tools to map cropping systems, stress prone environments (i.e., flood, drought, and salinity intrusion) and climate risk hotspots to allow strategic implementation of interventions at the local level in Southeast Asian countries. He is currently pursuing a PhD by Research on Applied Climate Sciences in University of Southern Queensland, Australia.

Before joining the Asian Development Bank, part of his role in the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) involves developing intelligent crop models using data science tools that can be used to provide seasonal crop advisory. He also develops and implements instruments for providing tailored agricultural advisory for farmers based on seasonal climate scenarios to support local climate risk management.

His current role in ADB is to support climate-related operations. He is the focal for climate adaptation in the AFNR sector in Central West Asia region, while also supporting the wider adaptation agenda of ADB in other regions.
