Karen supports the management Regional Flyway Initiative (RFI) through the ADB Technical Assistance Scaling Up the East Asian-Australasian Flyway Initiative in collaboration with RFI main partners, the East Asian-Australasian Flyway Partnership and BirdLife International. Prior to her involvement in the RFI, Karen was with the safeguards team of the South Asia Regional Department Energy Division. She has 18 years combined work experience in environmental sustainability and safeguards, water resources, clean energy and climate finance sectors. She obtained her Master of Environmental Management degree from the University of Queensland, Australia, majoring in conservation and natural resource management. Karen is an active member of the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines (WBCP), a volunteer organization that promotes birdwatching as a responsible way to enjoy nature and maintains a database of bird sighting records in the country. She currently serves as WBCP's Vice President.
