Julian Gonsalves is a global expert on Agriculture and Agroecology and currently the Senior Program Adviser of IIRR. He received his PhD from the Cornell University and his Master’s Degree from Michigan State University. He currently serves as Senior Advisor on climate resilient agriculture, food systems, and related areas of work. He has done external reviews for UNEP, FAO, SDC, IFAD, IDRC and several other organizations. Julian serves on the IDRC Science Advisory Committee for the CIFSRF. He is a UNEP Global 500 awardee for his work on environment and agriculture. He has been a strong proponent of regenerative agriculture since the nineties and helped developed a program for training in regenerative agriculture in six countries. He also helped developed IFAD Asia Research Strategy and evaluated SDC program in Laos. He has produced over 25 publications using the writeshop process he developed at IIRR.
