Hiz Jamali has recently joined Asian Development Bank as Senior Climate Change Officer. As regional climate focal for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Hiz provides technical support to the development, implementation, and coordination of ADB’s climate change agenda.
Prior to joining ADB, Hiz was as a Senior Research Scientist at Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), Australia, providing scientific leadership to government and industry partners in environmental, agriculture, and food sectors. He developed and led several research and development projects on carbon accounting, greenhouse gas mitigation strategies for agricultural industries, digital tools for irrigation decisions, and improving fertilizer and water use efficiency of irrigated crops in Australia.
Mr. Jamali holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne, Australia where he investigated methane and carbon dioxide exchange in the tropical savannas of Australia.
