Ando Mariot RadanielsonAndo joined IRRI in December 2011. She is a postdoctoral fellow under the supervision of Dr. Tao Li and Dr. Abdelbagi M. Ismail. Ando improves the ORYZA2000 rice crop model to represent salinity stress on plant growth and yield. Her work contributes in developing a suitable tool to help agronomists test and identify suitable crop management that would maintain and improve rice productivity under saline conditions. This will help also physiologists to understand salinity tolerance mechanism at the whole plant level and breeders to identify adaptive traits to screen for tolerant cultivars. She has also worked in using cropping system modelling to explore and assess management options to improve rice-based cropping system productivity under changing environmental conditions due to climate change in deltaic regions of the Ganges and the Mekong.
