OpenSPP - Social Protection Platform

OpenSPP is a robust, open-source platform engineered to bolster social protection programs, integrating Management Information Systems and Social, Farmer, and Disability Registries.

Overview of Technology / Project:

OpenSPP is a Digital Public Good (DPG) and recently received a 'Highly Commended' accolade at the Future of Government Awards 2023 for pioneering an open-source digital platform that plays a crucial role in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).  OpenSPP is designed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of social protection programs in low and middle-income countries. By offering scalable solutions for Social Protection Management Information Systems (SP-MIS), Social Registry, Farmer Registry, and the upcoming Disability Registry, OpenSPP embodies the principles of accessibility, inclusivity, and global utility, reinforcing the significance of DPI and DPGs in fostering societal resilience and empowerment. OpenSPP has been recently deployed to support over 20 million beneficiaries in areas like Iraq and is currently being piloted in other countries, demonstrating the platform's potential and transformative impact on social welfare. OpenSPP uses the Odoo framework for adaptability across diverse needs and contexts, and it is developed by a core development team in the Philippines together with other developers across Southeast Asia, as well as local developers in LMICs where it operates.  It emphasizes interoperability with different software solutions and programmes (APIs) and data formats and integrates GIS support for geographic targeting and impact analysis, streamlining social protection system processes. This enhances OpenSPP’s capability to address the specific needs of social protection systems, facilitating beneficiary identification, enrollment, benefits management, and service delivery.
