Overview of Technology / Project:
In the Philippines, there are projects underway to introduce methane emission reduction technologies in rice paddies to farmers and generate carbon credits. This project involves manipulating the water levels in rice paddies and establishing periods of drying to reduce anaerobic methane fermentation. By actually measuring the reduced methane gas emissions, carbon credits are issued. Furthermore, as part of the business of selling carbon credits, activities include consulting with companies, proposing investment plans, and currently developing exchanges to manage carbon credit transactions using blockchain technology in collaboration with businesses.
